The economic condition of the world economy and the local economies continuing to face turbulent times. The result is that the use of commodities such as heaters is decreasing. This is mainly down to the overall costs of purchase and maintenance. In such times of economic uncertainty though, there are heaters that are viable economically and practically. One such heater type are the over-the-side heaters. These immersion heaters make sure of water-resistant terminal housing for industrial purposes. Due mainly to their large demand in the industrial sector, they are available in a range of shapes, sizes, and dimensions to make sure they fit into and are compatible with your tank size and specifications.

Features

industrial-electric-heaterOver-the-side heaters don’t really have a set design pattern, which means they can be custom designed to suit the specifications and modification that the customer or industry requires. It is made up using a thermowell and a host of tubular elements which are used in coordination to keep the temperature lobe in place.

The primary feature that makes over-the-side heaters one of the commonly used heaters is their ability to be economically feasible. They also complement the manager’s budget with ease. Over-the-side heaters are not stationary and their mobility means they can be used in multiple places through the industry instead of being condemned to only one task. In terms of their visual appeal; the use of exotic metal alloys and stainless steel makes them a desirable choice with respect to any sort of heater application.

Uses

When it comes to large industries that have large-scale operations, the size of the operation can sometimes make the use of ordinary heaters almost impossible. Over-the-side heaters due to their purpose-built characteristics —in combination with digital controllers— can be the perfect solution to heat large quantities of liquids that have no access to them except from the top. The uses of OTS heaters are numerous with industries that operate in an economically competitive market and those that function on a strong budget. There are several areas, where over-the-side heaters can be used. These applications commonly include:

  • The use of the heaters in heating oils of a range of viscosities
  • The use of the heaters in heating caustic solutions
  • Heat transfer oils
  • Heating degreasing solutions

Structure

These heaters are designed keeping in mind that they are attached to the upper portion of the tank, either above the substance that is to be heated or in one side (which is where it gets its name from). The structure of the heater leaves ample space in the container. This allows for a variety of operations to run that have no link to heating.

In an over-the-side heater, the most important part is its heating element. Elements are made using titanium, cast alloy, steel, and copper. In some cases, the heating element is coated with quartz or other such materials to protect it at all times.
