SCR Direct Control Panel

WATTCO SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier) Temperature Control Panels come with the On-Off panels with the following options:

  • CTRL Transformer
  • Contactors and Fuses for multiple load variations

Advantages:

Also known as Phase Angle Controllers or solid state switching device – work using the modulation of the load voltage until the targeted temperature is reached. Its smoother temperature control (virtually no noise) makes it a preferred choice over mechanical contractors which involves full load on/off during a cycle and improves your temperature response time. Maintenance costs can be reduced as well as there are virtually no arcing or sparking. SCRs can reduce the possibility of thermal shocks in electric heaters. SCRs have infinite resolution which gives it many advantages. They are less likely to wear out and are less expensive. Fuses should be calculated at 25 percent of the full electrical load.

When we talk about industrial operations, most of the attention goes to integrated multi-function controllers, limits and scanners and temperature and process controllers. These are important aspects of industrial operations since they monitor and control the temperature levels and heat levels in a particular industrial operation. However, there is more to controlling than these controllers. An integral part of the working of most controllers is the solid state power switching device. These power switching devices are the bridge between controller action and the industrial systems. Most industrial operations require rapid and continually varying switching. For use in gaining optimum systems performance and PID temperature controllers, solid state power switching devices can help PID temperature controllers in their operations.
